Asia Kamal – an Iraqi actress
Artist: Asia Kamal, was born in Iraq in 1960 She is from a Kurdish family. She was close to the theater and acting since she was young girl. She used to accompany her mother when she was working in the Cinema and Theater Establishment.
Asia Kamal married for the first time to the director Falah Zaki, and they had two sons, Omar and Abdullah, but they divorced, after which she married the director and writer Basil Al-Shabib.
She started her artistic career in acting field while she was a student in secondary school and then she played a major role in presenting the play of (Gilgamesh), directed by Sami Abdel Hameed. She studied at Fine Arts Institute, and presented several works inside the institute and with the National Acting Group.
The technical supervisor: Hamid Soudani, advised her to participate in television works. She presented many roles in Iraqi TV and theater. The major turning point in her career was after her participation in the series “The Traveller" with the artist Kazem El-Saher in 1993 directed by Falah Zaki.
